06 - 1 teaspoon sesame oil
07 - 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
08 - 0.5 teaspoon salt
09 - 1 teaspoon sugar

→ Assembly

10 - 12 lumpia wrappers (spring roll wrappers)
11 - 1 egg, beaten (for sealing)
12 - Oil spray (for air fryer)

→ Dipping Sauce (optional)

13 - 2 tablespoons soy sauce
14 - 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
15 - 1 teaspoon sugar
16 - 1 teaspoon chili sauce (optional)

# Directions:

01 - Combine ground chicken, grated carrot, sliced green onions, minced garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, black pepper, salt, and sugar in a bowl. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
02 - Cut each lumpia wrapper in half to form two rectangles each.
03 - Place 1 tablespoon of filling near one short edge of a wrapper half and shape it into a small log. Fold the sides over the filling and roll up tightly. Brush the end with beaten egg to seal.
04 - Continue assembling the remaining filling and wrappers following the same method.
05 - Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3 minutes.
06 - Place the lumpia bites in a single layer in the air fryer basket and lightly spray them with oil.
07 - Air fry for 8 minutes, then flip the bites, spray again with oil, and cook for an additional 7 minutes until golden and crisp.
08 - In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, and chili sauce if using. Stir until sugar dissolves.
09 - Serve lumpia bites hot accompanied by the dipping sauce.

# Expert Suggestions:

01 -
  • They're genuinely crispy on the outside without any oily residue, which means you can eat more without feeling guilty.
  • The assembly is easy enough that even my teenager helped, turning dinner prep into an unexpected bonding moment.
  • One batch feeds a crowd or gives you ready-to-reheat snacks all week.
02 -
  • Don't skip the flipping step halfway through; it's the difference between perfectly crispy and unevenly browned.
  • If your filling is too wet, the wrappers will get soggy no matter what you do, so squeeze excess moisture from the carrots if needed.
03 -
  • A light hand with the oil spray is key—more oil doesn't mean crispier, it means greasy.
  • If you don't have an air fryer, shallow frying in about two inches of oil at 170°C works wonderfully and takes roughly the same time.
